The Last Thousand Miles

The good news is I have finished the first draft of “The Last Thousand Miles“.

The bad news is … it needs a lot more editing. As it always is, writing is not just writing some words down to tell a story, it is really writing and re-writing and re-writing some more. Its sort of like having to do the same job over and over. Theoretically it gets better the more you work at it. That’s my theory anyway. So the plan is to have the book done and published before the end of the year. That will allow me to enter it into some contests for books published this year.

To all of you out there who are almost finished with your next book, you know the anxiety I am feeling.  Will it be good? Will anyone be interested in it? Will it sell ?

This book is a fictional story about the dangers and problems two children from Honduras encounter when they try to get to America to reunite with their mother. Traveling across Mexico on the death train, La Bestia, it is a story of courage and faith. It’s based on the stories of all the migrant children who have left their homes to follow their dreams in America in the past few years. It doesn’t matter what your political stance on migrants is, you will still be touched by this story.

I will be keeping you updated on the final progress. By the way, the cover is being designed by my wonderful graphic artist, Morpheus Blak.

About Sharron Grodzinsky

Author, blogger and professional seeker of new adventures. After spending many years in the healthcare field, I now devote my energies to writing. I've finished my first book, "Waiting on the Outside" (The story of my sons' journey to incarceration) and my second book, "Surviving La Bestia". (Two immigrant children make a perilous journey over two thousand miles trying to get to America.) Both are available on Amazon. Writing is not an easy task, but if you feel the absolute necessity to write, then you are a writer! I am writing my third book, "The Hanging Girl". I am also partnering with Jon Ponder, CEO of Hope for Prisoners, to bring his story, "CONverted", A story of transformation and hope to light. I hope to have both completed by the end of the year. A little ambitious I think, but if you don't aim for the sky you won't land there.
